Honey

Time for my close up! Make sure you get my good side.

The name’s Honey, and if you’re looking for a dog with character, you’ve found me. We don’t do boring around here! (Also, I’m ridiculously cute. They’d better be attaching my headshot to this.)

Now, before we go any further, there’s something you should know. I have a neurological injury that doesn’t impact my quality of life, but it has resulted in the most adorable peculiar behaviour. Let me explain… I didn’t wait to be rescued. (The damsel in distress trope is so overdone.) I checked myself into The Gem Project Sanctuary and demanded star treatment. I don’t recall the details, but I was found collapsed outside the gate with a severe head injury believed to be the result of a cruel assault.

I recovered beautifully. But I was left with a permanent head tilt, blindness in my left eye, and a rather enthusiastic habit of spinning in little circles whenever I get excited. Always to the right. My neurological injury means I can’t turn to the left, so you’ll often see me turning in circles to the right instead. Why go left when you can always be right, right?

​

The important thing is: none of it has slowed me down. I’m healthy, I’m happy, I love people, I adore treats, and I soak up affection. I also get along wonderfully with other dogs and would do incredibly well in a calm, peaceful home environment. Whatever came before, it didn’t manage to change my opinion that people are still worth loving.

I hope that someone will find that I’m still worth loving too.
